What a Birth Chart Reading Actually Interprets
Three placements do most of the work in any birth chart reading: the Sun, which shows your core identity, the Moon, which shows your emotional needs, and the Ascendant, or rising sign, which shows how you meet the world. Together they are often called the Big Three, and a competent reading treats them as a set rather than lifting one out on its own.
Past the Big Three, a full natal chart reading looks at where each planet falls by house, since a planet's house placement says which area of life it is most active in, and at the aspects between planets, the angles that show which parts of the chart cooperate and which pull against each other. Mercury conjunct Venus reads differently than Mercury square Venus, even when both charts share the same two planets in the same two signs. That is the layer a Sun-sign horoscope cannot reach, because it never looks at your actual chart.
Where Free Birth Chart Readings Stop Short
