Some meetings skip the introduction phase. The conversation starts in the middle, the comfort is immediate, and both people privately think the same thing: I know you from somewhere. Synastry, the astrology of relationships, has specific places it looks when a bond feels older than its timeline.

The classic past-life contacts

In standard tropical synastry, astrologers single out a few cross-chart contacts. One person's planet on the other's South Node tops the list: the planet person walks straight into the node person's oldest patterns, and the bond feels instantly familiar. Saturn contacts come next, read as binding agreements that outlast comfort. Moon contacts to the nodes, planets falling into the other person's 12th house, and Vertex contacts round out the usual set.

These are single threads. They can mark a karmic bond, and they can also just mark intensity. The deeper comparison happens one level down.

Draconic synastry: two souls, compared directly

Draconic synastry converts both charts to their draconic positions, anchored at each person's North Node, and then compares them. The contacts that appear exist only at the soul level: two people whose tropical charts barely speak can share a draconic Sun sign or an exact draconic Moon contact, and the relationship carries that undertone of recognition from day one.

Among people with draconic contacts there is a shared scent; they recognize each other. It is common to find strong connections between draconic charts in those relationships felt as inevitable, in which the people involved identify with each other from the very first moment, as if they had known each other in the past and were meeting again.

Reading the result honestly

Many draconic contacts mark a bond with a long root; few or none mark a bond living mostly in the present tense, on the tropical layer. Neither verdict is a sentence. The contacts say where the relationship draws its sense of inevitability from, and a full reading of each chart says what the bond is asking of each person.

Frequently asked questions

Which synastry aspects suggest a past life connection?
Planets on the South Node, Saturn contacts, Moon-node contacts, and 12th house overlays in tropical synastry. In draconic synastry, any close contact between the two draconic charts carries that quality.
What is draconic synastry?
A comparison of two charts converted to their draconic positions, each anchored at the person's North Node. It reads the soul-to-soul layer of the relationship.
Can synastry confirm that we knew each other in a past life?
No reading can confirm that. What synastry does is name the feeling precisely: which contacts produce the recognition, and what they ask of the relationship now.
Why are node-to-node contacts missing from draconic synastry?
Every draconic chart anchors its own North Node at 0 degrees Aries, so node contacts between draconic charts carry no information. The calculator on this page leaves them out by design.
