People bring one question to astrology more often than any other: who was I before this life, and what did I carry in? Astrology cannot answer it as a court of record would. What it offers is a symbolic language for the parts of you that arrived already formed: the talents nobody taught you, the fears with no biography behind them, the people you recognized on first sight. The birth chart holds several places where astrologers read that material, and one entire chart that was built for it.

Where the past presses through a chart

Most astrologers check the same short list. The South Node of the Moon comes first: it marks what you already master and fall back on, the ingrained pattern that feels like home. The 12th house follows, the territory of what stays unconscious and inherited. Retrograde planets are read as themes under revision, matters being worked over a second time. Chiron points to a wound that predates its own story, and hard Saturn aspects mark lessons that return until they are learned.

Each of these is a single clue inside a chart that is mostly about this life. That is their limit: you assemble fragments and the picture stays partial.

The draconic chart: a whole chart for the soul

Draconic astrology takes a different route. Instead of hunting indicators inside the tropical chart, it redraws the entire chart from the soul's point of reference: the North Node of the Moon becomes 0 degrees Aries, and every planet and angle is measured from there. The result is a second zodiac for the same birth moment.

María Blaquier reads the draconic chart as the chart of intention: what this life is for, beneath the personality the tropical chart describes. Where the two charts agree, your outer life and your deeper purpose run together. Where they differ, the gap itself becomes the reading: a life that looks one way from the outside and means something else from within.

How to work with what you find

Read the two charts together rather than choosing between them. Start from the node axis in the tropical chart, since both systems hang on it. Then compare your draconic Sun, Moon, and Ascendant with their tropical counterparts. A draconic Sun in Scorpio under a tropical Sun in Gemini describes a light conversationalist carrying a deep investigator inside, and that tension, named, usually explains years of self-misunderstanding.

A full reading goes placement by placement through both charts. The free tools on this site give you the raw positions in a minute.

Frequently asked questions

Can astrology prove past lives?
No. Astrology offers a symbolic reading, a way to name what you carry, whether you take past lives literally or as a metaphor for inherited and unconscious material. The chart works the same either way.
Which part of the birth chart shows past lives?
The classic indicators are the lunar nodes, the 12th house, retrograde planets, Chiron, and hard Saturn aspects. The draconic chart goes further and redraws the whole chart from the node, so every placement speaks at the soul level.
What is the difference between karmic astrology and draconic astrology?
Karmic astrology is a reading approach: it interprets the regular tropical chart through indicators like the nodes and the 12th house. Draconic astrology is a distinct chart, calculated by rotating the zodiac to start at your North Node.
Do I need my exact birth time?
The planet positions survive a rough time. The Ascendant, the Midheaven, and the houses need a real one, in both the tropical and the draconic chart.
